Alleged wrong-way driver arrested for causing deadly crash
A teen who is accused of driving the wrong way and causing a crash that killed two people was arrested Tuesday.
Police have charged 19-year-old Khalil Sanders with two counts of vehicular homicide.
Investigators say that on August 12th Sanders was driving westbound on Sawyer Way and entered the intersection of Sawyer and Murray without stopping, striking another vehicle. Sawyer Way is an eastbound one-way street.
67-year-old Teddy Allison and 71-year-old Mary Ann Allison were traveling in the other vehicle and were killed in the crash.
Police tell us that Sanders is a Private 1st Class, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division on Fort Carson.
An arrest warrant was issued for Sanders Tuesday and Sanders turned himself in to the Major Accident Unit around 3 p.m. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail and is being held under a $10,000 bond.
