Palmer Ridge, Pueblo South prepare for state title showdown

Palmer Ridge is one win away from clinching its third straight state championship. Standing in the way: Pueblo South.

The Colts and Bears met on September 27th. Palmer Ridge rallied from a 13-3 deficit and won 24-19.

Pueblo South has not lost since.

Palmer Ridge is playing dominant football.

On Saturday, the two sides meet again.

"We looked over that game and found out how we started and we've tried our hardest to work on that," says Palmer Ridge tackle Cameron Reiman. "That's ultimately why we became a better team. The struggle that we faced in that game allowed us to figure out where our flaws are figure out where we need to stitch up ourselves a little bit and what we needed to focus on a little bit less and try to make ourselves a better overall team."

The Colts are seeking their first state crown since 2017, when they won state as a 4A school.

"We've just got to come out with better energy," says Pueblo South quarterback Logan Petit. "I felt like we did the first game but I think we kind of lost it toward the end. We're going to be prepared and we're gonna be ready to play these guys this time. I do feel like we're rolling. I feel like we all believe in ourselves to do great things and that's what it's been like the whole season."

The two teams meet on Saturday at CSU-Pueblo for the 3A state crown.
