Gardner on the offensive in crucial live, televised debate

DENVER (AP) -- Republican Sen. Cory Gardner is going on the offensive in a crucial, live televised debate.

He accused Democratic challenger John Hickenlooper of botching pandemic planning as Colorado governor and making inappropriate judicial appointments, and noted he violated state ethics laws.

The debate came as ballots went out to 4 million Colorado voters. Gardner is considered highly vulnerable for his support of President Donald Trump.

Asked at the debate if he was proud of the president, Gardner said he was proud of their accomplishments. He explained his support by saying: “I’m not going to support a socialist.”
