Motorcyclist dies after crashing against a sedan in Colorado Springs
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police are investigating a fatal crash Friday in which a motorcyclist died after colliding against another vehicle in Colorado Springs.
Officers were dispatched just after 5 p.m. to the intersection of Cucharras and Institute streets in regards to a crash between a motorcycle and a sedan. First responders found the motorcyclist seriously injured and immediately began treating him, but he died on scene.
The Major Crash Team is investigating the incident and says the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Cucharras at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign at the intersection. He then struck a Honda sedan travelling northbound on institute. Police say there was no stop sign in that direction and no one in the sedan was injured.
The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to officers. He is the 25th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year.
This was one of two fatal traffic crash the Colorado Springs Police Department was investigating Friday. The second incident happened on Union Boulevard and involved a rollover crash.
