BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Wildlife officers in Boulder County have helped disentangle a moose that had rope wrapped around its antlers and neck.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Northeast Region first received reports of the entangled moose Friday in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Officers located the moose that same evening near Pawnee Pass.

The two wildlife officers tranquilized the wild animal and removed the rope from its antlers and chin. The bull moose had sustained some injuries around its neck, chin and ear; but officials say those will heal well just in time for the upcoming breeding season.

The moose was previously ear-tagged and CPW says it was relocated out of Boulder in 2014, making it at least six or seven years old.
