Former Air Force CB Zane Lewis not worried about preseason cancellation

PHOENIX, AZ. (KRDO) -- There will be no NFL preseason games in 2020. The league announced the decision not to have a preseason after months of player demands that it be dropped.

While popular with veteran players, the lack of a preseason makes things challenging for players like former Air Force cornerback Zane Lewis. Lewis went undrafted, but signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent.

Typically, the preseason serves a chance for players like Lewis to prove they can compete at a professional level. Without preseason games, Lewis' ability to showcase his skills are limited. But, he's not focusing on that.

"It definitely makes my job weird now," Lewis said on Monday. "Personally, the goal for me is just to go in there each day in practice and in film and show them I'm ready, and show them that I can be a valuable player. It's life. With COVID and things like that, I guess the league thought it was best that way. Goal right now is just to go in each day and prove to the coaches, teammates, and the vets there, that I can be a useful player on this team."
