Colorado Springs firefighters rescue man trapped in trench

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Firefighters were called for a rescue after a man got stuck in a trench under construction behind a convenience store on Barnes Road Wednesday morning.

One man was seen stuck in the trench, and a crew with the Colorado Springs Fire Department started securing the sides of the trench to prevent them from collapsing during the rescue.

A CSFD spokesperson said the man is able to talk to crews while they worked to dig him out.

The man was finally freed shortly after 11 a.m., and he was taken to the hospital.
