Serious crash in Crowley County under investigation, driver arrested
CROWLEY COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two people are in the hospital with serious injuries and the driver is in custody after a crash on Highway 96 Friday afternoon.
Colorado State Patrol was called to the scene just after 3 p.m. near mile marker 91. Troopers determined the driver lost control and went off the side of the highway and through a ditch before going airborne over a set of railroad tracks. The car hit a power line, went through a fence and rolled, finally coming to a rest on its roof.
The driver, identified as 45-year-old Sherrie Montano of Denver, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. However, her two passengers sustained serious injuries. One of them was ejected from the vehicle.
Montano was released from the hospital and arrested on charges related to the crash, said CSP in a release Friday. CSP says alcohol, drugs and speed are being investigated as factors in the crash.
