Local car club holds parade for graduates

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- With graduation ceremonies across the country canceled because of COVID-19, a lot of people are coming up with creative ways to honor the recent graduates. The latest crew to help out the kids is the Southern Colorado Projects Car Club.

They held a drive-by parade for several students from the Spring Studio for Academic Excellence and Falcon high school.

"I think it's absolutely amazing!" says graduate Amethyst Boynton. "There aren't many people like those that are willing to come out here and just be there for us and celebrate us. I think it's amazing. I couldn't be more thankful!"

"We just want to be out here showing everybody that we still support them," says Tina Moore of the Pueblo chapter of Southern Colorado Project Cars. "They didn't get a prom. They didn't get a real graduation. This is kind of us just showing our support. This is a huge time for them. You only graduate high school once. Those are really big accomplishments that they will never get to have. So we want to do something special."
