COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A Colorado Springs woman reached out to KRDO to try and find the owner of a bundle of photos she found floating in the water at Bear Creek Dog Park on the southwest side of town, after heavy rainfall flooded nearby areas Wednesday.

“I saw what I thought was trash coming down the creek and nobody was picking it up, so I waded in even though I didn’t have waterproof shoes on," Judy Browne told us. "I turned around, I go, guys, these are photos. These are someone’s life."

The cluster consists of what appears to be a high school track candid, a West Point class portrait, and several other photographs that seem to be one-of-a-kind.

"I knew it was West Point the minute I saw it because my cousin taught at West Point," Judy explained. "I just said somebody has to be looking for these photos!"

Judy says she was even more determined to figure out the mystery, considering she's lost precious photos in a similar way.

"Our house was flooded when my kids were little, and the thing I missed was the photos," she recounted. "I thought all those photos of my kids, as babies and everything, are gone. And I said just said 'I have to try."

Luckily, after posting about the situation on Facebook, the KRDO Digital Team was able to find the stack of momentos' rightful owner!

That man told us he's out of town right now, but he’s grateful that Judy took action and plans to meet up with her to retrieve his photos when he returns.
