A Lift from Alfie

A weight room can be filled with Alpha males. At Colorado College there's Alfie, "Yeah she's been a big hit here at C.C," says Colorado College Director of Strength and Conditioning, Scott Caulfield.

When the athletes are being pulled in different directions, or a lot is on their plate or their just sleepy, Alfie is there to lift their spirits, "She's furry friend that we all love to see. She brings energy and it's nice to get a little cuddle before your stretching out or before you start your workout," says Colorado College women's soccer player, Kiley Suter, "Seeing Alfie everyday kind of brings a smile to your face and just makes workouts a little easier," says Colorado College hockey player, Andrew Gaus, "I think there's research done on pets and dogs especially elevating people's mood," says Caulfield, "She's more of a bright spot in a day where it's up and down with school and hockey and just life in general," says Colorado College hockey player, Christiano Versich.

Not only does she help motivate but everyone jokes that she's a therapy dog, "Immediately if they are having a rough day if they feel bummed about there injury that they have immediate smile changes endorphins a little from having a dog around," says Caulfield, "Whenever you're in a sad or down mood she's always there to pick you up as dogs always do," says Suter.

Alfie's keeps her eyes on the athletes, she can sniff out a good workout, or not and of course belly rubs usually leads to tail wagging, "There's something different about Alfie. Just wants to be petted. Just wants to be loved more than anyone else wants to give love. She's a ray of sunshine," says Versich.

After a rewarding workout it's time to plomp down, "We love Alfie she the best," says Suter. "Tigers on three. One, two, three Tigers!
