Black Forest residents frustrated by nearly 2 weeks of confusing delays with FedEx deliveries
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - Homeowners in Black Forest tell KRDO13 that it's now been over 2 weeks in some cases, that they've been waiting for packages to arrive that were shipped through Fedex.
Those living up in Black Forest reached out to KRDO13, about what has become a widespread issue for those in the area. Residents who spoke with KRDO13 on Wednesday, say they have gotten a mix of messages from FedEx as to why the delays are happening.
Paul Gavin, a resident at his home for upwards of 30 years, says he has been waiting for a pair of boots for his wife to arrive, since he ordered them on November 4.
He says that following the winter snow storm from November 6-8, road conditions improved by the end of the weekend, however FedEx has continued to cite weather conditions as the reason his package hasn't arrived.
"It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, and we didn't see it... and the tracking is saying [it will arrive] again today. But this is like the fourth time it's been out for delivery." explained Gavin.
Meanwhile, Becci Lane another resident about 15 minutes from Gavin, says that she has had quite the experience this month with multiple deliveries.
First, she says she has had a routine order of Chewy's dog food in place for her two working line german shepherds set to deliver on November 4. She says that on November 14, FedEx told her that the delivery was delayed due to weather conditions. Lane says she understood, since they received close to 27 inches of snow from the winter storm the week prior.
It wasn't until November 19 that Lane says she got a new notice, saying the delivery was 'delayed'. However, the company Chewy's re-ordered the bag of dog food for her on November 14, which arrived on the 19th.
Lane says that she got a notification saying the original bag of dog food had been delivered, with a photo of the box on the front porch. However, Lane says it was at the wrong address.
"I went on Federal Express website again, of course, [and] you can't talk to anyone. It's just been horrible. [I] looked up my item that I never got from November 4th, and it said now it's been delivered [and] had a picture of the wrong address, not my front porch, so that's that's disappointing." she explained.
Now, Lane is also waiting for an order from Walmart she placed on November 8, that she was notified had arrived in Colorado Springs at a FedEx facility, on November 11.
Since that day, Lane says she's repeatedly gotten the same message saying that the order has arrived in Colorado Springs, instead of upgrading to being out for delivery.
"I would almost think they should have like something on their phone, or an email that's generated out that literally says, if you're in Elbert or Black Forest, we're working on it. You know, something to just identify [the situation]." said Lane.
Shawn Deno lives in Pueblo, but has been waiting for a $250 gold necklace to arrive at her mothers house in Black Forest, since it is supposed to be a surprise birthday gift for her husband.
She's been sent several messages, day after day, saying that it would arrive but it hasn't. She clarifies that she hasn't gotten notifications about the delivery being delayed for one reason another.
"Like I said, hopefully by Christmas at this point." Deno half-joked about the delivery date, given her husband's birthday is November 27.
She adds that the only message she has gotten about a delivery was on Saturday, November 16, where FedEx stated the delivery couldn't be made because the business at the address showed that it was closed for the holiday.
"There's no business on that road." Deno said bluntly. Her mother lives in a residence on a dead-end road, within a thickly wooded neighborhood.
In addition, Deno says her mother has had a random item delivered to her front door, which was not hers.
"The address wasn't anywhere close to her." Deno said.
On Monday, FedEx sent KRDO13 the following statement about the delays:
"Winter weather earlier this month in the Colorado Springs area limited our operations. We thank our customers’ for their patience as we continue to work through the final backlog of shipments. As always, customers with questions about their shipments can visit www.fedex.com.”
Shannon Davis, Communications Advisor
However, on Wednesday afternoon, another spokesperson sent the following updated statement:
"Following last week’s winter storms, we have returned to normal delivery operations, and completed any backlogged deliveries in the area. Customers can visit fedex.com for package tracking and customer service assistance."
