“Arming Criminals”: A KRDO13 Investigates Special Report

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Colorado Springs Police tell KRDO13 Investigates that the city reached a 5-year high in reported firearms thefts in 2023.

Police say, many times those guns are being used to carry out all different types of crimes, and that officers are limited in what they can do, to stop those criminals from stealing again.

KRDO13's Tyler Cunnington dug into the numbers, looking at just how many of those thefts occurred, what parts of the city they happen in the most, where those criminals are nabbing your guns from, and whether lawmakers are taking the right steps to help slow this dangerous trend.
