Windy start to the week
Tonight: Partly cloudy skies with light winds and no chance of precipitation. Temperatures down to about 19 degrees in Colorado Springs.
Monday: Here's where things get interesting. The cold front that is bringing the continental divide snow showers will cross out of Colorado during the afternoon, bringing strong winds to the I-25 corridor and HWY 50. Maximum wind gusts look to be around the 40mph range, but knowing Colorado, I wouldn't be shocked if we hit a 50mph gust in El Paso County. The winds will be straight out of the west, meaning north/south-oriented roads will experience strong crosswinds. Light or high profile vehicles need to be on the lookout for blow over risks. Winds will calm down after 6 pm. Afternoon temperatures in the mid-40s and plenty of sunshine.
Extended: Near critical fire weather likely through the midweek forecast as relatively humidities will drop into the teens during the daytime hours. Very minimal precipitation chances over the next few days. A cold front will enter Colorado Thursday afternoon, whipping up those winds again with snow likely in the high country.
