Police: Woman assaulted officers, people in south Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police officers were called to a disturbance on S. Academy Blvd. Wednesday afternoon and had items and punches thrown at them while trying to arrest a suspect.

The disturbance was reported at about 2:25 p.m. near 2800 S. Academy. (MAP) A caller reported that a woman was causing a “verbal disturbance” at a business and struck multiple people when leaving the area.

Officers found the woman, identified as Jennifer Schoolfield, and she “threw items at them and struck one of the officers with her fist,” according to a police report. Schoolfield then kicked another officer while they tried to put her in a police car.

Schoolfield was taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center and booked on charges of second-degree assault on a peace officer and third-degree assault.
