Thousands of cadets march in 2019 AFA Graduation Parade
It was a cold, wet and overcast morning as loved ones bundled up in the stands to watch the Air Force Academy Class of 2019 Graduation Parade.
Jay Butsko, a relative of one of the cadets said, “It’s a little cold, but it’s worth everything.”
While Jaylee Walter added, “It’s really exciting to see something like this.”
Due to the weather, all flying activities were canceled. However, a Stealth B-2 bomber was still able to make a flyover.
Along with the bomber, the weather didn’t keep everyone down. The Academy’s famous falcons flew and after the sound of the cannon, 4,000 cadets marched.
Maurice Appleton, a cadet said, “Getting married in a couple of days, going to go be a pilot, yeah Air Force!
Caleigh McLean followed suit, saying she felt amazing. “I’m very excited, it’s great to have everyone here, my support system. Couldn’t have done it without them,” she said.
McLean’s father also served in the military, so for him, this was a very proud moment.
“Proud moment, it’s been a fast four years, yet a long four years; can’t help but feel a little emotional at all the changes,” said Thomas McLean.
After Wednesday, the Class of 2019 has officially marched in their last parade. They have now turned over leadership of the cadet wing to the Class of 2020.
