2 people arrested following homicide in Fountain
The Fountain Police Department arrested two people for first-degree murder in the death of a 20-year-old man.
The victim, Cordell Rosenberg, was found shot dead near an Applebee’s restaurant on April 21.
Wednesday, the suspects were identified as 19-year-old Fernando Craig and 20-year-old Shawna Cowden. It’s not clear who allegedly pulled the trigger.
Craig and Cowden face charges of first-degree murder and are in custody at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. We’re still awaiting the release of their mugshots.
Officers were called to the 6400 block of Highway 85 late Sunday night, between Applebee’s and IHOP. When they arrived they found a man who was already dead.
“I’m walking down the sidewalk, I saw the police lights flashing and I’m thinking, ‘where the man’s body was laying it must have been a hit and run,'” said Gale Dougherty, who walked past the crime scene.
This incident marks the first homicide of the year for Fountain. Police report last year there was one murder total.
