Hot and dry, fire danger later this week – 6/26/18
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild tonight with lows in the 50s and 60s.
TOMORROW: Another hot day ahead as highs return to the 90s and triple digits. Near record highs will once again be possible. Mostly sunny skies are expected but some developing clouds will arrive for the afternoon over the higher terrain. Some of these clouds may be able to produce some high-based thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds possible. Any storms that develop will be isolated and will not be efficient rain producers.
EXTENDED: The long range forecast looks very hot and mostly dry through Friday. Highs will be in the 80s in the mountains, with 90s and 100s over the lower terrain. A slight chance for storms is in the forecast for some of our mountain cities tomorrow, otherwise things stay quiet. Skies become breezy Thursday and Friday as an area of low pressure passes by off to the north. This will allow for elevated to critical fire danger. Cooler air moves in for the weekend along with shower and storm chances.
