‘Team Up to Clean Up’ event to be held Oct. 14, in Pueblo
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)-- The City of Pueblo is holding another “Team Up to Clean Up” event, offering residents a no-cost opportunity to dispose of large household items and yard debris.
The cleanup event will take place from 8- 3 p.m. and two locations will be available for Pueblo residents at Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) located at 2001 Rawlings Blvd. and the other at the Colorado State Fairgrounds located 1001 Beulah Ave.
Residents are encouraged to enter the CSU Pueblo location using Troy Ave. and Rawlings Blvd. near the ThunderBowl parking lot.
Meanwhile, entry to the Colorado State Fairgrounds will take place through Gate 3 on Mesa Avenue and Gate 9 on Beulah Avenue.
Traffic will be routed through the Fairgrounds to the drop-off location and exit through Gate 5 on Prairie Avenue.
City officials are also partnering with Black Hills Energy to assist with outreach and education for the community while Pueblo residents attend the event.
Black Hills Energy will be at the Colorado State Fairgrounds location and Pueblo residents may receive a free energy efficiency weatherization kit from Black Hills Energy.
Each household is limited to one pickup-sized truckload only and residents are encouraged to bring the following: furniture, mattresses, carpet, used tires, yard waste and other large items.
Yard waste that is easily packed in trash bags or boxes is preferred and a limit of five tires per household will be accepted. Tires must be removed from the rims.
Vehicles with building materials including concrete, soil, or rocks or any industrial or commercial waste will be turned away. Hazardous materials, appliances, televisions, computers, and other electronics may not be disposed of during this event.
In addition to the no-cost one day event, the City of Pueblo is also partnering with Waste Connections to assist with additional trash disposal opportunities.
Waste Connections will offer half price dump fees at the South Side Landfill at 5715 CO Hwy 78 from Monday, October 16, through Tuesday, October 31.
All truckloads must be covered, and the event is open to City of Pueblo residents only.
