Pueblo County deputies outfitted with body cameras
A deadly weekend shooting will be one of the first captured by body cameras work by Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency is the most recent, local, agency to add the devices.
In total, 82 deputies now have the cameras mounted on their uniforms.
Cheif David Lucero with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said it’s key for transparency and for training purposes.
“We’re able to go back and review how we responded. Do we need more training? Was our response appropriate? There’s a myriad of benefits that we get as a result of this new technology,” Lucero said.
The cameras have been in place for a little over a month now.
The money for the cameras came in part from the Pueblo County Board of County Commissioners and a grant from the Department of Justice.
