Gubernatorial candidates debate in Colorado Springs

Eight Colorado gubernatorial candidates participated in a debate in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

The forum was hosted by The Gazette, Colorado Politics, and El Pomar’s Forum for Civic Advancement at the first ever Colorado Civic Barbeque.

The event kicked off at 11 a.m. with the Republican candidates’ debate. Greg Lopez, Victor Mitchell, Doug Robinson, and Walker Stapleton took part in the debate. Some of the main topics discussed were transportation, immigration, marijuana, and gun control.

A family style barbeque was then held for attendees.

The democratic candidates took the stage nex to talk about important topics as well. Donna Lynne, Mike Johnston, Jared Polis, and Cary Kennedy took part in that debate. The topics discussed in this debate were immigration, education funding, transportation, and sustainable energy.
