Colorado Springs donut shop targeted in early morning robbery
A donut shop in Colorado Springs was targeted by would-be robbers Friday morning.
Colorado Springs Police say two armed men walked into Amy’s Donuts on Fountain Blvd. around 3:00 a.m., and demanded money.
Police say an employee was taking too long to open the register, so one of the men pistol-whipped them. The gun discharged but no one was hit by the gunfire. The suspects then took off.
The doors to the business were locked when officers arrived, so they had to force their way inside. Several officers were injured but not seriously.
The suspects are described as Hispanic males. One was said to be 5’3″, the other 6’0″. Both were wearing bandannas and had hoodies pulled up over their heads. If you have any information, call Colorado Springs Police at 719-444-7000.
Amy’s Donuts is closed Friday and will reopen Saturday.
