Quiet Night Ahead 5-17-18
TONIGHT: Quiet and mild conditions are expected tonight with some cloud cover. Temperatures drop to the 40s and 50s by early tomorrow morning.
TOMORROW: The day will start out quiet with mostly sunny skies. A cold front will then push in from the northeast heading into the afternoon. This will spark some showers and storms across the Pikes Peak region by late afternoon. Some of these storms will have the potential to become severe for winds gusting in excess of 60 mph and hail to the size of half dollars. We’ll track these storms through the evening. Afternoon highs also cool slightly, with 70s and 80s expected. Our mountain cities stay in the 60s.
EXTENDED: Low pressure then cruises through the state during the weekend bringing a noticeable cool down for Saturday especially. Some showers and storms develop over the higher terrain and then move eastward to the I-25 corridor. This happens again on Sunday, although showers and storms could make it even further eastward. Highs on Saturday cool to the 50s and 60s with 40s for the local mountains. Sunday will be slightly warmer with temps reaching the 60s and 70s. Isolated storms continue Monday and Tuesday before drier and warmer weather arrives on Wednesday and Thursday.
