Colorado soldier to be honored with procession Friday

The body of a soldier killed in Afghanistan will be returned to Colorado Friday.

Army Specialist Gabriel Conde, 22, was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. His death in April was the first U.S. combat fatality in Afghanistan since the beginning of the year.

According to his obituary, Conde’s body will arrive at Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland around 10 a.m. Friday. A procession will then head down Interstate 25 to Highway 56, then Highway 287 to Longmont.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m., at Life Bridge Christian Church in Longmont. Conde will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday.
