Colorado Springs man sentenced to 32 years in road rage shooting
A Colorado Springs man was sentenced to 32 years in prison Tuesday after a road rage shooting last year that left a 34-year-old woman seriously injured.
Khalil Sanders was arrested after shooting at the victim for allegedly cutting her off on Dublin Boulevard last February. The victim told police she saw Sanders put his left arm out of the window and fire one shot while she was pulled over to the side of the road. She suffered a broken rib and lacerated spleen but did eventually recover.
Sanders was also previously convicted of vehicular homicide in 2013 and was not legally allowed to have a gun. He was charged with possession of a weapon by previous offender along with first-degree assault.
According to the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, a judge sentenced Sanders to a total of 32 years in prison followed by five years of mandatory parole.
