Increasing clouds and mountain snow – 1/6/18
TODAY: We will be seeing a gradual increase in cloud cover through the daytime today as our next weather maker approaches. Skies will be dry in the lower elevations, but snow will be developing in the central mountains by the afternoon. Highs will be in the 50s in the foothills and front range with 40s for the mountain cities.
TONIGHT: Skies will be mostly cloudy as we go through the overnight. Snow continues in the central mountains. A few flurries are possible in our mountain cities tonight, but will not be causing issues.
EXTENDED: We can’t rule out a few spill over showers during the daytime tomorrow in the lower elevations, but accumulation is not expected due to the mild period of weather recently. This will present itself as light rain or even a rain snow mix. The best chances of seeing more steady snow or a rain snow mix will be in the Sangres. We could see spots of up to 3″ of accumulation here. Our weather stays quiet until Wednesday and Thursday when our next system moves in. This looks like it will bring us some kind of a rain snow mix. Stay tuned as we tweak the forecast!
