350-pound bear euthanized after jumping on woman
A bear was euthanized after it jumped on a woman while she was camping in the San Isabel National Forest.
The woman was attacked around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Aspen Acres Campground, which is northwest of Rye.
She was inside a tent eating dinner when a 350-pound bear pounced on the tent and pushed her to the ground, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.
The bear moved away when the woman’s friend went up to the tent. Luckily, the woman didn’t suffer serious injuries.
The bear later returned to the camp and was euthanized Wednesday morning.
CPW officers had actually been at the campground earlier in the day Tuesday to put out a trap because the bear also broke into a car this week. The car had cake and other food inside.
Parks and Wildlife says this is an important reminder to be Bear Aware. Click here to see tips from CPW.
