American Airlines adds flight to Chicago
You can now fly to Chicago on American Airlines. Flights to the Windy City began Wednesday from Colorado Springs Municipal Airport.
American Airlines will now offer two daily flights to Chicago that will serve more than 100 passengers per day.
The addition of these flights plus 10 others within the last few years is welcoming news to Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers.
“That’s a tremendous sign of growth after years of declining. We are having significant growth at the airport and that’s indicative of the growing economy in Colorado Springs,” said Suthers.
These new flights also allow for more international travel.
“This is a network hub and provides opportunities for people to connect all over the country at one of the largest hubs in the country,” said Greg Phillips, director of aviation.
And although the inaugural flight was delayed, the service expansion is ahead of schedule as American Airlines said, adding flights like this could lead to additional destinations from Colorado Springs in the future.
