Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Hot & Hazy Again – 8/22/2020
Overview: The air looks to remain quite dry for several days with only very spotty showers and thunderstorms expected over mountains. Smoky and hot conditions are likely to continue for the plains for much of the week.
Today: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy and hazy with high temperatures in the 90s to near 100 for the plains, and 70s and 80s for our local mountain communities and high mountain valleys. Isolated, weak showers and thunderstorms may develop over and near the mountains, mainly along and south of the Arkansas River, but we expect more wind than rain.
Tonight: Any weak showers over the southern mountains will end this evening then mostly clear with low temperatures in the 50s and 60 for the plains with 40s to lower 50s over our local mountain communities and most of the high mountain valleys.
Sunday: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy and hazy with high temperatures in the 90s to near 100 for the plains, and 70s and 80s for our local mountain communities and high mountain valleys. Isolated, weak showers and thunderstorms may develop over and near the mountains, but again we do not expect many areas will receive significant rainfall.
Extended: Most of next week looks hot although some slight cooling is possible toward the end of the week and it seems likely that we’ll remain hazy due to smoke from western wildfires. Showers and thunderstorms should become a little more numerous by midweek with the stronger cells possibly producing at least brief downpours.
