Much needed rain on the way Wednesday evening
TODAY: Partly cloudy to partly sunny skies are expected today along with highs in the 70s and 80s. We will be mainly dry up until lunchtime and then spotty showers and thundershowers develop through 6pm. Most of what we see today will be spotty and light until later tonight. Between 7 and 9pm, it looks as though we will see a heavier wave of showers and storms. Severe weather is not expected but lightning and pea-sized hail are possible. We will also see pockets of moderate to heavy rain.
TONIGHT: Heaviest showers shift to the southeast plains and we are left with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies through tomorrow morning. A few lingering showers are possible over the far plains through that timeframe. Lows cool to the 40s and 50s tonight.
EXTENDED: More scattered showers are possible through tomorrow night. We could also see a few storms. Right now we are expecting a widespread quarter inch or less of rain accumulation, with localized higher totals between 0.25" and 1". Daily chances for rain and storms are in the forecast through early next week. Highs each day remain in the 70s and 80s.
