Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Warmer! – 12/6/19

Overview: Several weak waves will move over the area over the next week. We expect some snow over the high country this weekend, but afterwards the chances for significant precipitation don't seem very high for a while. We do expect periods of cloud cover and wind as well as temperatures fluctuations throughout the week.

Today: The air will be crisp this morning, and for some areas away from the mountains it may be a bit slow to warm, but all areas should be warmer this afternoon under a partly cloudy sky. We expect some pockets of wind over and near the mountains at times with most areas warming into the 50s and 60s eventually.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and not as cool with low temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Snow showers may begin to develop over the mountains along and west of the Continental Divide by morning.

Sunday: We're tracking a weak cold front that will bring a mixture of clouds and sun to eastern Colorado and likely cool afternoon high temperatures into the 40s and 50s. While we do not expect precipitation locally we do expect accumulating snow over parts of the high country where winter driving conditions are possible.

Extended: Another cold front will move over the state Sunday night into early Monday. We expect that snow will continue to fall primarily over the ski resorts, but it is at least possible that some flurries or spotty, brief snow showers could break out over and near our local mountain areas as well. Right now it does not appear we should expect widespread snowfall over our major population centers on Monday so significant impacts to travel don't seem likely. Monday will be colder with high temperatures falling into the 30s and 40s for most areas. We expect a gradual warm-up through Wednesday, then another weak system should cool the area some on Thursday. Friday and Saturday look partly cloudy and dry with high temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
