High fire danger and wind today – 10/8/19
TODAY: Sunshine and areas of high thin clouds are in the forecast for this afternoon. Red flag warnings are also in place from noon until 8pm along and just east and west of I-25. This means fire danger is going to be a big concern this afternoon. Please take fire prevention seriously today and report smoke or fire if you see it. Highs will be warming to the 70s and 80s today thanks to west winds between 25-35 mph.
TONIGHT: Clear and cool with lows dropping to the upper 30s and low to mid 40s.
EXTENDED: Continued warm, dry and windy weather is expected for Wednesday before a cold front moves in on Thursday. This one will be particularly strong and will bring us our first taste of winter this season. Look for a 40+ degree drop in temps, wind gusts between 40-50 mph and some snow. Right now accumulation looks minor, with cold being the bigger issue. Wind chills will likely be in the teens to near single digits in coldest areas. Highs will be in the 20s over the mountains with 30s and 40s along and east of I-25. Stay with KRDO for the latest updates!
