Flash Flood Warning issued August 16 at 8:09PM MDT until August 16 at 11:15PM MDT by NWS Pueblo CO

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southwestern Pueblo County in southeastern Colorado…

* Until 1115 PM MDT.

* At 809 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2.5 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD…Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Colorado City.

This includes the following streams and drainages…
Muldoon Creek, Salt Creek, Mustang Arroyo, Greenhorn Creek, Muddy
Creek, Scroggs Arroyo, Saint Charles River, Graneros Creek,
Huerfano River, Pinkney Arroyo, Apache Creek, Galbeth Creek, Horse
Creek and Boggs Creek.
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
