Heating up for Friday

Tonight: Clear skies overnight with light winds and low temperatures down to 53 degrees in Colorado Springs and 54 in Pueblo.

Friday: We're looking at potentially the warmest day of the year in Colorado Springs so far. Pueblo hit into the low 90s in early May, which they'll be close to, but most likely not eclipse. Overall just a beautiful end of the work week with plenty of sunshine along the I-25 corridor and across the eastern plains.

Extended: High pressure will eventually move east on Saturday, bringing scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorm back into the forecast. Currently the showers will develop early Saturday afternoon in the mountains and move east. Most likely into northern El Paso County by mid afternoon. More widespread showers and thunderstorms are anticipated for Sunday. The good news is that most of the storms this weekend will stay sub severe. Although I can't completely rule out the brief intensification of a few thunderstorm cells.
