High Fire Danger isn’t slowing down

Today: Temperatures warm up to 89 degrees for Colorado Springs and 94 for Pueblo. The highest wind gust that hit the Colorado Springs airport was 51 mph. The Pueblo airport had a 37 mph gust. The winds are expected to continue to be gusty and bring 30-40 mph gusts across I-25 and the plains.

The high country areas will have even stronger gusts with 40-50 mph winds and 60 mph gusts at times. The southern Sangre de Cristos along the lower eastern slopes are where wind gusts are likely to exceed 50 mph.

Smoke plumes are bringing thick haze across all of Colorado, which has prompted air quality alerts. On top of the air quality alerts, most of Colorado is under a RED FLAG WARNING until 10 pm.

Tomorrow: Another RED FLAG WARNING is in place for most of Colorado tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wind patterns are looking similar, with a trough of low pressure over the northern Rocky Mountains causing gusty conditions across Colorado.

Temperatures stay above average for Colorado Springs, with the high temperature around 87. Pueblo will be around average with a high temperature of 94. Hazy conditions and smoke plumes will continue.
