Warmer Today, With Better Chance For Afternoon Thunder

TODAY: It will be mostly sunny to start the day, which will allow temps to get a bit warmer than yesterday! Expect highs for most to get into the 70s and 80s, with a few 90s across the plains. There is a weak disturbance that will bump our moisture up around the state which will set the stage for an uptick in storm coverage later this afternoon, however most of this action will stay confined to the higher terrain. Anything that does manage to develop will be capable of producing bursts of rain, gusty winds and lightning... but I don't anticipate any severe storms this afternoon.

SUNDAY: Expect another sunny and warm day, with temperatures getting a touch hotter than we'll see Saturday. Once again there will be a slight chance for storms over and near the mountains through the afternoon, but I anticipate most will end the day dry.

NEXT WEEK: This relatively quiet and warm pattern will continue into next week, with highs sticking around the 70s and 80s for most with 90s for portions of the plains. Our next weather maker will push into the state beginning late Tuesday and into Wednesday, and while this system doesn't look like it will bring a significant cooldown by any means, it does appear that it will bump our winds up around the state which could create fire danger concerns. We'll be monitoring that closely as this system approaches. With the increased winds will also come a slight increase in afternoon storm chances each day through the end of next week, with the bulk of the activity looking to stick across the higher terrain.
