Severe thunderstorms in eastern Colorado

Currently: A line of severe thunderstorms is moving northeast through Lincoln and Elbert Counties, producing penny sized hail and 60mph winds. Also, a severe thunderstorm just crossed I-25 in far southern Las Animas County, ping pong ball sized hail and 60mph gusts associated with that storm. Expect gradual intensification of thunderstorm cells along HWY 50 east of Rocky Ford over the next few hours.

The severe weather will come to an end at approximately 10pm, with a few overnight showers possible in Colorado Springs. Low temperatures to 51 degrees in Colorado Springs and 55 in Pueblo.

Sunday: Mostly sunny skies with temperatures warming nicely, reaching 74 degrees in Colorado Springs and 82 in Pueblo. Isolated showers possible in the eastern plains, but the main weather story is the wind. Afternoon wind gusts anywhere from 40-50mph, making outdoor activities much more difficult. Elevated fire weather is anticipated, but currently there are no Fire Weather Warnings in effect.

Extended: Sunny skies continue through the first half of the work week with temperatures staying into the 70s. Daily wind gusts might be a hassle at times, with gusts to about 25-30mph every day.
