Today: Partly cloudy skies to start off the morning in Colorado Springs with light winds at 5-15mph. Can’t rule out a stray rain shower during the morning but the vast majority of El Paso County will stay dry till early afternoon. Temperatures remaining about 10 degrees above average for mid-September with high’s to 86 in Colorado Springs and 91 in Pueblo. High-resolution model runs have scattered thunderstorms developing over the higher elevations of Custer/Fremont County by late morning and transitioning eastward through the remainder of the day. Hayden Pass/Spring Creek/Junkins burn scars should be monitored closely for flash flooding. The I-25 corridor will see isolated thunderstorms starting after 1pm with the biggest concern being strong outflow wind gusts. The hail threat today is very low. HWY 50 east of Pueblo is looking quite windy today as gusts are going to max out to about 45mph.
Tonight: Rain chances diminish overnight, gradually turning mostly clear with a low temperature of 54 degrees in Colorado Springs.
