Car crashes into river in Clear Creek Canyon along Highway 6

GOLDEN, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado State Patrol closed Highway 6 through Clear Creek Canyon while crews pulled a vehicle out of the river.

According to CSP Gaming, the road was closed while a towing company pulls a car out of the river. CSP says the extraction was expected to take roughly an hour.

CSP reported the crash around 10:45 a.m. By 11 a.m., a towing vehicle had managed to bring the car out of the river, onto the side of the road.

By 11:24 a.m., CSP had managed to pull the vehicle out with the assistance of Allied Towing, reopening Highway 6.

No word on what caused the crash.

This incident comes two days after the Golden Fire Department had to rescue two badly injured climbers. Per 9News, one of the climbers was taken by Flight for Life to a trauma center. The second climber was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
