89th annual Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo days away

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is officially one week away.

The rodeo has been a staple in Colorado Springs since 1937 when it was first founded and ran at Will Rogers Stadium across from the Broadmoor Hotel.

Starting Tuesday, July 14, the rodeo will welcome the top professional rodeo cowboys and cowgirls across the U.S., Canada and Mexico to compete in the NFR Open at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.

The events, including performances by groups such as the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit and the Pikes Peak Rangerettes drill team, will take place through July 18.

The grounds will open for performances at 4 p.m. each night. Performances will begin at 7:30 pm.
