Broomfield police respond to active shooting, suspect in custody

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (KRDO) – Broomfield police officers are on the scene of an active shooting at the Arista Flats apartments on Central Court.

Broomfield police say this is an active scene and the surrounding area is not safe.

A reverse emergency notification was sent to residents to shelter in place.

BPD says that the suspect is in custody and the scene is secure. The suspect and one victim were transported to a hospital. The victim, a female, died from her injuries at the hospital.

According to BPD, the suspect is a 34-year-old male who sustained serious injuries. Multiple law enforcement officers received minor injuries and were treated and released.

The police department asks residents to call the non-emergency line at 303-438-6400 if they discover any items/damage that may be related to the crime when returning to their homes and/or vehicles.
