Man in critical condition, suspect arrested after shooting at KOA campground in Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - A Friday morning shooting at the KOA Campground north of Pueblo remains under investigation as a man remains in critical condition in the hospital.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) responded to the scene along southbound Interstate 25 near the Pueblo West exit, at around 11 a.m.

According to a release issued by the PCSO, a 30-year-old man was shot multiple times; the suspect was still at the scene and deputies arrested him without incident.

A helicopter transported the victim to a hospital in Colorado Springs; he is critically injured.

One camper told KRDO that he believed the victim was shot in the back; another camper said that she saw the suspect carrying a gun and making threats before the shooting.

Investigators had a pickup truck towed from the campground as evidence.
