Person shot while driving downtown, crashes into multiple cars, police say

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO)-- Colorado Springs Police are investigating multiple car crashes and a shooting in Downtown Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Police say they responded to a shooting downtown near Cimarron Street at 8:12 p.m. Police believe a person was shot while driving, which caused them to veer out of their lane and hit multiple parked cars. It's unclear how many cars were hit.

Police confirmed the driver, and multiple people were taken to the hospital. Police say the gunshot victim has serious injuries. Police did not share the condition of the other victims of the crash.

Bijou Street from Tejon Street to Nevada Avenue was closed as police investigated the area Downtown.

A KRDO photographer at the scene saw police place a man in handcuffs and into a police car. However, police would not confirm if the arrest was in connection to the shooting. No other supsect description was given.
