Denver Broncos officially request permission to begin interviews for head coach search

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Denver Broncos are on the search for a new coach. The team officially requested interviews with three potential candidates.
Former Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett was fired in December 2022 after a 51-14 loss against the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day. This was his first season as a head coach in the NFL.
Since he was relieved of his duties, Senior Assistant Jerry Rosburg was named interim head coach. Now, the team is officially moving forward with the search for a new coach.
According to our news partners in Denver, Monday was the first day NFL teams could formally issue permission to interview head coaching candidates employed by other teams.
9News reports so far three defensive coordinators, Raheem Morris of the Los Angeles Rams, DeMeco Ryans of the San Francisco 49ers, and the Cowboys' Dan Quinn, received permission requests from the Broncos to interview for Denver's head coach position.
Morris and Quinn have previous head coach experience, Ryans does not.
