9 injured after apartment fire in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KRDO) -- An early morning apartment fire injured nine residents in Lakewood, according to 9NEWS. Three residents were treated at the hospital and six others were treated at the scene, the West Metro Fire Rescue said.

Monday, West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a two-alarm structure fire at around 4:17 a.m. close to 9th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

According to fire rescue, a mom and child jumped from the second story to escape the fire. The mom, child, and dad were taken to the hospital.

A total of 32 units were destroyed in the fire, leaving all residents displaced, the West Metro Fire Rescue said.

Fire rescue said one firefighter received treatment for smoke inhalation.

An investigation is underway on the cause of the fire.
