All boats need to be removed from North Shore Marina at Lake Pueblo before Dec. 31, 2022

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Boat owners renting at the North Shore Marina at Lake State Pueblo are asked to take immediate action to protect their boats from damage due to the lack of electrical service. Tuesday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said boat owners should make plans to permanently leave the marina before the end of the year.

An independent electrical engineer hired by CPW to do a safety review of the electrical service at the marina determined it was out of compliance with applicable codes.

The review led to all electrical service to all of the docks at the North Shore Marina being terminated on Sept. 28. There is no estimated timeframe for when electrical service may be restored.

Officials say the loss of electrical service poses potential risks to public health, safety, and the environment, including risks associated with sinking vessels.

Now, people are asked to move their boats before Dec. 31, 2022. No boats will be allowed to remain in the marina beginning January 1, 2023. There is currently no electric service for boats stored in slips at the marina and no bubblers to prevent ice from forming.

CPW said there will be limited power available to the marina lift station, fuel pump, and store until Dec. 31, but not after that time.

According to officials, the North Shore Marina is owned and operated by Colorado Marine and Boatworks, Inc. (‘Boatworks’). This is a private company that has a concession contract with CPW to operate the marina. While CPW manages the park, the office doesn't manage the day-to-day operations of the marina. Boatworks owns and operates the docks and marina infrastructure.

The concession contract between CPW and Boatworks expires on Dec. 31, 2022. From there, CPW said the North Shore Marina will close with no immediate plan for reopening.

In a statement on Facebook, CPW said it "regrets any inconvenience or hardship caused by the marina’s electrical issues and closure."

To coordinate removing your boat from the marina, or for any questions, CPW says to contact Boatworks at:
