Colorado Springs Police: Man accused of causing power outage and crash in custody

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man accused of causing a crash and a power outage that affected hundreds of people is reportedly in custody.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, a man caused a crash near the intersection of 8th St. and Frontage Rd. around 10:50 a.m. Monday.

From there, police say the suspect hit a power pole off Moreno Ave. near 8th St.

The power went out for more than 500 Colorado Springs Utilities customers west of I-25, along 8th St. and W. Cimarron St.

Colorado Springs Utilities told KRDO the power should be restored at 2:37 p.m.

Just after noon, power was restored for hundreds of people. As of 12:04 p.m., only 64 customers are affected.
