Fatal vehicle crash closes North Parkside Drive, Circle Drive Tuesday morning

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- North Parkside Drive and Circle Drive are closed to traffic due to a vehicle crash.

Tuesday, Colorado Springs Traffic reported a vehicle crash on eastbound Pikes Peak Ave. and N. Parkside Drive, just before 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a tow truck with a car on the flatbed was heading east on E Pikes Peak Ave at Parkside Dr when a vehicle traveling north on Parkside Dr making a left turn on E Pikes Peak Ave pulled in front of the tow truck. The tow truck impacted the side of the SUV before coming to rest on the north side of E Pikes Peak. 

Two people involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. One of those transported succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team responded to the scene to assume the investigation. For the time being roads in and around the crash scene will be closed affecting local traffic.
