Coloradans can now take driver’s permit tests online

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles announced Tuesday that the test to obtain a driver's permit can now be taken online.

The online Driving Knowledge test requires no appointment and can be conducted anywhere at any time as long as the user has internet access and a working webcam.

Previously, aspiring drivers had to schedule a visit to a state driver's license office to take a Driving Knowledge Test or do so through a driving school.

Any Coloradan old enough to test for an instruction permit can take an "@Home Driving Knowledge Test" by completing pre-registration at myDMV.Colorado.gov.  

The online test does require a $5 testing fee and a $1.50 credit card processing fee. However, the first attempt at the at-home test is free of State fees.

Subsequent attempts will cost $17.65 each, with the state collecting $11.15 of the total when visiting the DMV to get an instruction permit.
