CPW says it's important to be mindful of moose when outdoors and avoid areas near water with an abundance of willows, which is their primary food source.
Additionally, CPW advises people to leave dogs at home or absolutely keep them on a leash in moose habitat. Officials say dogs are oftentimes catalysts in attacks.
On June 8, a cow moose was killed after it repeatedly charged a man, woman, dog, and first responders in Boulder County. CPW is now taking care of its orphaned calf.
